HazeTracker is developed and maintained by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA).
The SIIA is a non-profit, non-government organisation dedicated to the research, analysis and discussion of regional and international issues and the environment. Founded in 1961 and registered as a member-based society, the SIIA is Singapore’s oldest think tank, and is ranked number one in Asia and the Pacific.
For more than 33 years, transboundary haze in Southeast Asia has been a recurring nuisance that has put public health and the environment in peril. Land clearing by fire on a large scale is responsible for many occurrences of haze pollution. HazeTracker is intended as a resource to help concerned Singaporeans monitor the current haze situation, understand the causes of haze, and learn practical ways of taking action to stop haze.
